I ask my clients the same questions, no matter how big or small the project may be.
What will be the function for each room?
It may be obvious that a bedroom will need a bed and bedside table and a lounge will need sofas and a t.v, but think about how your family will use the space.
What style are you drawn to?
Contemporary, traditional bit of both? Have you travelled somewhere that you loved? Incorporating pieces from your travels create an eclectic look, which can bring you back to those wonderful memories.
It is also a good idea to put together a scrap book or mood board which includes magazine clippings, photos and finishes. This is a great tool to use and refer to when deciding on that perfect interior.
What elements do you like from your current interior?
What elements do you dislike from your current interior?
Whether you renovated before, or bought an existing house, there may be areas of a house that you cannot stand. What isn't working? Don't make that same mistake again. This is why you are renovating/decorating; to make it truly unique to you and your family.
And the most important question is:
What is your budget?
We can all go head over heals when its time to start fresh, but keep your budget in mind and stick to it. By creating a spreadsheet with all expenses outlined, will help you stay in line.
Always remember to have fun with it!
