The Great Gatsby

I still haven't seen The Great Gatsby movie,  I will be seeing it with my mum soon and we have planned to watch it at the Rivoli Cinemas in Camberwell. I think it is quite fitting. The interior is gorgeous and has carefully been restored to its former glory.

The story of the Great Gatsby has been set in the 1920's Art Deco era. It would have to be one of my favorite era's in terms of fashion, architecture and furniture design.

So this week, I have put together a collection of furniture and accessories that have an Art Deco influence that can create a glamorous and sophisticated feel to any home.

When searching for Art Deco pieces, look out for geometric shapes, chrome details and fan like motifs.

Catherine Martin who is an Australian costume and set designer from The Great Gatsby, has collaborated with Designer Rugs, to produce a range of gorgeous hand knotted rugs that have a French Art Deco influence.

Catherine Martin has also designed The Fitzgerald Suite at The Plaza Hotel in New York City which mimics the set of The Great Gatsby film. The attention to detail is very impressive, with a monochromatic colour scheme and geometric pattern shown in the wall and ceiling panelling and also in the furniture details.
